Back then people didn’t understand why I was spending that much in cards… but this is what long-term collecting looks like.

Did you know there’s no such thing as a 1999 Japanese Pikachu Trophy card? 👀

The only true Pikachu trophies were awarded in 1997 and 1998, across multiple official tournament events in Japan.

🔹 1997: The first-ever Pikachu Trophies — awarded at the original tournament. Highly iconic and historically significant.
🔹 1998 (2nd & 3rd Events): Official continuations with new event stamps, extremely limited, and often even scarcer in surviving population than 1997.

PSA has occasionally mislabeled some as “1999,” which causes confusion — but they’re actually 1998 Third Event cards.

These trophies were never available to the public — they were awarded to winners, making them some of the rarest Pokémon cards ever printed. 🏆⚡️

📚 Lesson: Always check the text in the description, year and known population data — not just the PSA label.
